About SA Fashion Week 

Launched in 1996, SA Fashion Week is South Africa’s longest standing industry event, that provides local designers or brands a platform to launch their latest collections to buyers and the media in runway shows. SA Fashion Week is the ultimate showcase when it comes to clothes in South Africa, and so much more.

Two seasonal events are held annually in Johannesburg to introduce the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter Collections of a given year. Through its defined focus on the The Business of Fashion and Clothes in South Africa, SA Fashion Week has steadily contributed towards a strong design-led fashion industry by:

• Providing a multi-faceted marketing platform for fashion designers based on established, international, best practice;
• Facilitating the transfer of industry experience, skills and know-how;
• Stimulating collaboration between designers and traditional craft communities;
• Enabling partnerships that allow micro fashion design businesses to leverage the export infrastructure of larger textile clothing manufacturers;
• Actively facilitating the improvement of local design output to match international standards;
• Running mentorship programs for designers:
• Facilitating skills and knowledge transfer for designers through workshops and training courses;
• Developing new design talent through the SAFW New Talent competition;
• Providing designers access to the consumer middle market through the annual SAFW Pop Up Shop;
• Providing an agency service to designers through its Fashion Agent business launched in 2012;

Quite simply, SA Fashion Week has become a pioneering showcase of clothes in South Africa, and the international fashion community has taken note of our fresh, young talent. Truly, the South African fashion industry has become something to be very proud of.
